Salsa/Casino
There is some debate over the exact origins of salsa, but most historians agree that this popular music and dance has its roots in Cuba and specifically traditional Cuban Son music. At Latinsalseando we teach basics, partner work, turns and musical interpretation.
Styling
Adding style to your dance is about appearing effortless and confident, elegant and sophisticated. It’s about dancing in a way that is characteristic of you and fits the dance. Styling is about how you use your arms, hands, body and feet to express your own interpretation of the music. Our director Mariesly Paradelo is recognised internationally as a specialist in Cuban ladies styling.
Rueda de casino
Rueda de Casino is a fun and exciting dance that originated in Cuba somewhere around the 1950’s. Rueda is the Spanish term for wheel, hence the circular formation. The dance typically consists of 2 or more couples dancing in a circle (rueda) with frequent partner exchanges.
Cha Cha Cha / Mambo
The cha-cha-chá, was born in Cuba. It is danced to the music of the same name introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950s. This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo. Often called the cheeky Cha Cha Cha – of misbehaviour (or travesura) is expected.
Orishas
Want to embody your inner orisha and learn the dances inspired by Yoruba and Santeria. Learn the traditional moves of Chango, Yemaya and Obatala, you will not only add a new dimension to your dancing you will also learn the origins of Cuban salsa and religion.
Rumba
In Havana the Rumba can be found everywhere: on the corner on a Sunday afternoon, when a group of friends get together and beat out the rhythm on some chairs, or on the domino table. Like the Son or the Trova, it’s one of the musical styles that most identifies Cuba in the world. The Rumba is Cuba.
Bachata
Originating in the Dominican Republic but influenced by Cuban Bolero, Merengue, Salsa and Cumbia, Bachata is now popular both in the Caribbean and across the world. An ultra sexy dance that is right at home in the Salsa Clubs of Havana.
Kizomba
Contemporary Dance
Dance is central to the cultural life of Cuba, a country of ballerinas and social dancers, innovators and classicists. Moreover Cuba is home to some of the best contemporary dancers on the planet and its national dance company Danza Contemporanea de Cuba attracts world acclaim.
